Don't feel bad - I talk to Charlie more than I do the girls - they are usually busy doing "henny things" and he takes time to come and chat - he's soooo nosey

All my girls are laying like crazy I got 4 days straight where all 7 have laid daily. 28 eggs in 4 days!!! I love the BO eggs. I am.not sure which one lays which eggs but one buff lays a beautiful dark brown and the other is a nice mauve looking egg. Their eggs are beer than the faverolle eggs.

Congrats on the egg laying! Mine are just now starting to get back into the swing of things. I agree, I do like the BO eggs - nice large eggs!

I have a couple Buff hens and this guy, He was an accident I ordered all pullets from Cackle and this was one of the pullets >not< lol
Can anyone tell me if he is a good quality or not, he is approx 9 months old. He is a nice rooster as far as temperament goes so for now he can stay.

Thanks

Are you sure he's not a buff leghorn? Hes got HUGE comb and wattles. Also lacks type for an orpington. *edited to fix misspelling:)

Quote: I think he would be what English Orpington breeders call "hatchery quality". I haven't read up on it much, but English Orpingtons are much more fluffy or full than what I call Amercian Buff Orpingtons - this is usually what you get from the hatchery. If he is only 9months he definitely fill out more - he does have an impressive comb and wattles for sure.

If I am not mistaken Buff Leghorns would have white earlobes.

Just my thoughts

That's true! I forgot about the white earlobes lol. Actually all Orpingtons are considered "English". I call the the good quality birds Uk since they have blood from the UK, show birds American sop or American and hatchery pet quality or hatchery stock:)

LOL Yes, even the hatchery mine came from claim they are of English descent, but they are not the near as fluffy as ones I often see. So I call mine American hatchery quality
