I have an 8 week BO that I ordered from a hatchery. She is supposed to be a hen but I'm worried that she is a rooster. What does everyone else with more chicken experience think? (She/he is not bossy to any of the other chickens. I'm only basing my suspension on her comb & waddles. She is about the same size maybe slightly smaller then all the others her age.)

That is definitely a rooster. My 8 week old pullets have zero comb development, and aren't even pink yet.

I picked up 4 Beautiful girls to add to my small group, they are really very lovely, Is there anyway to guess at how old they really are? They are definitely full size

What makes it worse is that I'm away 3000km away .

I thought the other chickens would've noticed but apparently they go on like nothing's happened lol.

...maybe get a box of hankies for them just in case...

We may not be able to guess their age, but we would love to see your new ladies

I could get 3 of the 4, but here they are, I haven't a clue how old they are, I also read that when I brought them home that it might take them awhile to start laying again, true?

They are lovely ladies.
It's so hard to tell the age @oldhenlikesdogs may be better at guessing than I am. I would say over a year old.

If they were actively laying when you got them, they should start laying once they get acclimated to their new home. Stress of a move can delay laying sometimes. It's also getting late in the year, they may start molt soon depending on how old they are.

You have a nice yard for them, I'm sure they will be happy. BO's are sweet birds.

I thought they looked mature so at least 2 years, maybe up to 3-4 years.
