Thanks Country hen. They are only in the run when I'm there cause its dirt floor and no roof. My coop/pen is a converted dog kennel with a cement floor so I feel relatively comfortable with their safety in there. I'd love to run a hot wire all along the bottom of my donkey/cow pasture and let them roam there. Maybei can convince my husband...

Don't know if you have hawks around your place we do so if you let em in an open pasture watch out hawks will grab em I'm in the process of putting a net type top on my chicken yard, our yard is large & the chicken house is inside this fenced yard maybe when it's done I'll put some pictures on. Talk sweet to your hubby & he will go along with you mine does most of the time just to please me He so wonderful.

We do have hawks and bald eagles. We only do supervised outside time. My husband is dead set against netting our pen. I understand his point...its surrounded by pine trees and the needles will get stuck in the net. But I have guineas that fly out of the fence and with the guinea chasing dog, I've been scared to let them out again. So we've got to come up with something.

See my page showing my monofilament line. NO leaves stuck in it, and NO hawks or eagles. You must put up something for the Orps to hide under.

went to your page looked @ your pics where on your page do I go to see your run with this line across the top? Your Orps are beautiful I have a rooster looks lots like yours

I found it! Its under Post your Pictures here thread, post 7777 I think. I searched the thread for monofilament and that brought it up. I almost missed it, as I was distracted by all the pretty chickens! :)
