*Buff Orpington Thread!*

I agree the fist one was a Rooster and the second would be a Hen.
The different size in comb and feet and legs and body mass is a dead give away my Buffs at almost 5 months are easy to tell the difference.
It was fairly easy at 3 and 4 months of age.

So I have a Buff Orpington pullet who was called a Lemon Cuckoo (??) by breeder; she has started developing dirty looking tail feathers that I at first thought were just dirty, but they are actually a brown color mixed with the lovely yellow color they usually are. Is this normal? And does this mean I will not be able to show her? Also, no sign of parasites or skin issues.

What you have is a very heavy case of "Pepper". Brown or black markings are frowned on at shows.Very faint brown smudges are sometimes useful in hens kept just for breeding. I would not use a female with these heavy brown markings though.Bear in mind that Lemon Cuckoo is not a recognized color in Orps. It is still a project being worked on by a few breeders.
