I am so excited! I'm getting some new buffs tomorrow! The ones I have now are ones my hubby picked up from the feed store last year. The ones we are going to see tomorrow are from a local breeder that says they are show quality! e

Many people who have never shown birds say they have "Show Quality" birds. Find out if the birds have actually been shown, before you part with too much $. I really love the ads advertising "Show Quality Eggs" too .

Those ads would be more correct if they purported "Eggs from Show Quality Stock"

I have 27 122 day old BO's

. 12 males and 15 females. 10 of the males are going to the chopping block this week

. The 2 that I have chose to keep are huge compared to the others and are the most gentle and don't bite me. But will puff up at me when they think i have messed with the hens enough. Although I don't think they are true buff males because they have a lot of red in them. As for the hens they are all a champagne gold color. I have 5 nests and just ordered nesting eggs to teach the girls where to lay. Hopefully I will have eggs in about six weeks and hens that will hatch

I have never shown a bird but if I were to sell chicks I would say whether or not they were hen hatched or incubator hatched. Hen hatched would be worth more. If the ad says show quality demand to see documentation proving being showed and how well the birds did during show.
Any one can show a bird once but only quality birds make it through the showing.

of course you can show eggs, there is a standard for eggs in the uk but. I'm not sure about America.

What do you think of these two? They are supposed to be a blue and a brown and black orphington I got from a certified hatchery but they look so different! Thoughts?

The black one in the back is the only one that looks *sort of* like an Orp to me.. but it could just be the angle or their age.. or the fact that i'm no expert in chickens!!

ETA: I misread your post.. either way, the Blue/Lav really doesn't look like an Orp.. fluffy cheeks and a flat tail.. me says no. The Brown/Black Roo could potentially be, but something about the shake of his beak makes me think otherwise.

Came on here to post that I deloused almost all of my girls today after finding 1 Buffie with a semi-heavy infestation last night. I think I caught it early on, as I was only able to find lice on 3 of 5 , and 2 of those took quite a lot of searching to find just a few bugs. I was only able to get 5 of 6 chickens done myself, so I will need hubby's help to get the last one (our phsycotic Jersey Giant), and will do the coop at the same time.

They are hen hatched. They are really nice but I didn't ask if they've been shown before. I got two hens and a roo anyway because they were a big improvement on what I had.
