*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Wait until one goes broody and all of your ceramic/plastic/wooden eggs/golf balls are all in one nest...lol!!
I might have to install one of those wildlife cameras in the coop because I think that would be hilarious to watch them wrangling those fake eggs into one nest.

You have outdone yourself with this photo Johnn. :)

Oooo thanks!
Alright - how do you get your animals to stay still long enough to take these photos? Every time I try to get photos of my animals they won't stay still long enough except for the dog who will stay on command but you can't tell chickens to stay.
Mine are just used to the camera now, they know that if they pose I leave them alone!

I'm going to guess he doesn't show us the 30 not so great pictures it takes him to get the one good shot! LOL
Animals and Kids photos...take lots of film, or I guess now they just take lots of memory??
I don't have enough memory on my phone to take loads of pics, all my pics are usually first shots :)

I think he just lives in that magical land that we read of in English literature... like Narnia.
No Orcs.
Don't think it's quite as nice as Narnia ;)

Wow John, the photos are incredible. Thanks for sharing your flock with us. Since you are so experienced with Bella and others hatching baby chicks, I have a question for you. Hope you don't mind. My Buff, Rachael, went broody again for the 4th time in her first year. I don't have a rooster, so I got some eggs from another backyard chicken farmer. After candling on day 7, four of the eggs were apparently not fertile, so we are down to two. This is the 16th day she has been laying on them and today when I picked one egg up and put it to my ear, I heard little peeping. No sounds from the other egg. Does that mean one is very close to piping? Maybe a couple of days? And, if the chick would experience a problem hatching, would Rachael help her out? Never experienced this before and it is so amazing. Thanks for the advice.

John I hope it didn't look like I was doubting your photography or dismissing any of the compliments.
The photos are indeed impressive. The fact that they are first shots rather than "best" shots of many is nothing short of incredible!
Your a very talented photographer and I love your photos.

You should start a "John's chicken photos" thread, LOL!! It would be a hit!

Ok so I got this guy/gal around 6 weeks ago...approximate age then was 12 weeks. I'm thinking it was probably more like 10-11, so age now would be 16-18. No crowing or laying or squatting. I got more hen votes before but this just doesn't look promising. Thoughts? Also would he be crowing by now if he was a he?
