*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Thank you!! :) They are my spoiled rotten little princess fluffy butts. We're getting more chicks in April, but these two will always be near and dear to my heart, as they were my first chickens. <3

Are you going to get more Buffs? I know what you mean about your first chickens being near and dear to your heart. Our three "Originals" have set a pretty high bar in the sweetness factor.

No, no more buffs in this batch, anyway. My son wants a couple of EE's for their colored eggs, and I'd like to do a breed comparison to see how different ones do with temperament and egg laying. I'm getting 2 EE's, 2 Australorps, and 2 SLW's. In a couple of years when I have more of an idea of what I like, I will probably focus on one or two breeds - at that point, I will most likely get more buffs. :)

I'm hoping one of my girls goes broody right around the time my chicks are due - if not, I'll brooder raise them, but a girl can hope!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I just wanted to brag a minute on my precious talented step-daughter. She has a business designing and creating all sorts of things with one of those Signature vinyl cutter machines. Anyway, she made this "Chicken Momma" tee-shirt for me for Christmas:

I was so surprised and touched that cried I like a baby when I opened it. :)

Can any of you remember Coco the chick that got caught in a rat trap? She was just about strangled to death when she was about 4 weeks old but she survived! She's the bottom hen now though but she still has her mam looking after her so she just hides behind her and sneaks into the top hen feeder next to her!
