I love the Buff Orpington breed as a hobby flock choice to raise them as egg layers because they won't peck at you when you try to get the eggs from under them in the nesting boxes.
Well I'm not culling 7 orps just because they don't like me sticking my hand under them to collect eggs. Other than that their gentle and sweet, especially the rooster.
I wouldn't cull them either. Sometimes mine give a swift peck if they're feeling extra broody, but other than that I have zero issues. I think it's just an instinct thing like any mother protecting her young/potential young.
