*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Waiting for that FIRST egg! She spent a good hour on the nest on Saturday and left with a loud cackling noise. I run to the coop hoping for sure that this is THE day; unfortunately, the nest was still empty. I really, really want to see that first egg, you know?

I am in the same boat with my Lavender Cuckoo Orpingtons. One of them is acting very eggy and breaking into other chickens' coops to sit in their nests. She seems to be test driving them, looking for the perfect spot!

Hello, everyone! I am just learning my way around BYC. So much great information on here! I have 2 Buffs that are 2 years old. They are such great girls! We just picked up 2 Lavenders and 1 Black Orpington 7 week olds. (Hopefully, pullets) My buffs were our first and will always be my special ladies!

Here are Sadie and Peaches. (Looking like they are judging me for my fashion choices., or something)

Hi Sadie and Peaches!! Glad you joined the BO thread. Lovely curious girls.

Welcome to the Buff Orpington thread.

It cracks me up how inquisitive these birds can be...

Here's one of mine, all up in my biz LOL!

I think BO's almost always look like that! Always wanting to know exactly what is going on.

@Wyorp Rock

Definitely! And this one is our most friendly buff, she is always running up to us and begging for cuddles and snacks lol! SO curious and friendly!

It will probably happen tomorrow. My hens always practied a day or two before actually laying.

I LOVE my Buff girls. They are fluffy and have great temperaments. I have three of them who are at the top of my flock: We call them Belinda, Ducky and "Little Chicken" in Chinese. (I can't spell it.)

Ducky is a broody, every spring. She is a wonderful mother. She has hatched out several clutches of surrogate eggs that we put under her; she is fantastic with the babies no matter what breed they turn out to be.

If I could, I would get a WHOLE flock of buffs. They are wonderful to have.
