My best layer punky an orpington is having soft shell problems today it was a broken shell still hanging from her vent which I had to take out, her vent looks clean and she sat in lukewarm water and she is eating a bit treats mostly and drinking water but she won't eat much feed or oyster shells

I never thought I'd do this but I will try the shell of a boiled egg for calcium to see if she'll eat that I also will put her in isolation during the day so her rooster can't mate her

She won't be alone just kept separate by a little fence I hope this will work and she'll get better soon

I'm sorry.

You may want to crush up a TUMS and sprinkle it over the egg for calcium. Egg shell does provide calcium, but usually not as quick uptake as TUMS or liquid calcium.

If you have Poultry Nutri-Drench I would direct dose her with that as well (1cc per 3lbs.)

That just means you need to add some BOs to your flock! You know, just do the chicken math.

A few BOs are guaranteed to give you warm fuzzies inside when you watch them.

Boys should have larger more pink colored combs than the pullets at that age.
