Hello all,
I have a Buff Orpington chicken, it is 6 months old and has a big comb. The lady I got it from wasn't sure if it was a rooster or not because its mother also had a big comb. Its hackle and saddle feathers are long and pointy. It also hasn't crowed yet. I would like to know if it is a Hen or Rooster? I have attached photos.

i voted pullet, i'm not sure though, see im thinking a roo that hasn't crowed at 6 months or have spurs is pretty rare, though it could happen that he's a later bloomer but that late?

here's my roo at about 7 months old there is a huge difference between him and your chicken though the age difference isn't that much... notice the spurs are big, has the obvious tale and he did start crowing at 2 months

also if it is a roo and you let him hear other roos crowing, he might just start crowing if its in him.

also the legs and toes of a roo are fatter and wider, thicker bc of all the standing they do, they don't like to sit around so those are some characteristics that can help

She/He likes to lounge around a lot and is always the first to sit down.
