Chicken math is real. I have Golden comets now and am so pleased with their friendly personalities and egg laying power. But I was thinking of adding some Buffs because of the positive things I’ve heard. But are they generally broody?

I've only had one buff, but she was extremely broody. All the online websites i can find say they are generally broody.
I highly recommend this breed, they are extremely hardy.

I've read that buffs are usually pretty broody. If you want a different breed for eggs I suggest production blues. They're super friendly I get get an egg a day from them. They're also pretty to look at and super quiet.

Are the production blues broody?

I had buff orps and they rarely went broody and if they did they were very quick to break.

Forget what the breed handbooks say. Apart from silkies who are most definitely on the broody side (though mine no more than the other hens I have) most birds are just individuals.

I've had very broody red sex links and currently have a polish hen raising chicks, none of which are supposed to be broody breeds.

Get a breed you like for all the other reasons.
