I also set another small batch yesterday. Can't wait till all the girls start laying. Also shipped out two pullets this morning.

Also planning to build another coop this spring for the buffs. So far im thinking making a coop 8' long 4' deep and dividing it in half so I have two seperate breeding pens. So each side would be 4'x4'.

You can see some pictures of my buffs here. http://www.facebook.com/SundownSilkies I ran out of space on my website so now all new pics have to go on my facebook.

Oh how nice all your buffs are...i need to take some pics of some of our chicks... have a couple who are looking really good in the 6 week pen really fluffy and clear...on another note our main breeder girls who we also like to show are finally molting after 18 months and they have been great layers...they are all bald right now on their heads so no pics for now of them...some of the chicks have a darker color on their bodies but as they are maturing it seems to be going away has any one else experienced this????

I used to have nice buffs, a few years ago. I miss 'em, especially after seeing these pics. But I gave up on Silkies altogether, just too high maintenance.

Buff is my favorite color too. Breeding for Buff is not for the faint of heart that is for sure. I think the information that Sigrid and Sonora Silkies have posted is invaluable reading if you are going to start raising Buff Silkies. It has been a 5 year effort on my part. I did have a huge set back two years ago and lost them all but it is still a work in progress.

A few pictures of my bunch.
