My buff who got BV at the poultry show this weekend in MA.

keep on with dark tail his comb and skin looks darker
but i would keep them both just case something happen to first one

Thank you for the compliment! The first picture is a trio of hens...they had the best personalities ever. The second picture is of my two boys...sadly I could only keep one!

Just got done culling the majority of my buffs. I'm only keeping 5 birds simply because the rest have too much smutt. I know some of you say to keep the smutty ones, but I just can't do it. If out of 15 chickens I'm only able to keep 5 then the keeping smutt thing aint working. I would like to eventually show some buffs and these smutty birds will be laughed out of the show. So back to square 1 lesson learned

. I think I'll skip out on buying hatching eggs next time and just pay the extra to have a nice bird shipped to me.

and 2 nice bird well still produce smutty birds so even if you buy 2 nice birds you have cull 1\2 them

isnt smutt a dq in showing buffs

buff is hard color and the clear the buff the lighter the skin,comb, and even some times eye colors can be and that dq too so keep smutty birds for breeding and show the clearer ones

i did notice with my buffs the have right color but there skin isnt as dark
