Hi there, I have some sort of an emergency with my hen. We've had her for almost 2 years, but about 2 days ago I noticed her left eye was swollen, which it wasn't the day before, I thought it was just going to go down in a couple of days, but it doesn't seem to be going down and the eye socket seems to be getting watery. I think it's a spider bite, but what else could it be?

Do you have a picture of the eye? Can you see any bubbles or foam in the eye, or is it watery, crusty, or does it have pus? Has there been any sneezing or crackly breathing? A swollen eye can be a sign of a respiratory disease as well, but a peck or a sting may also be possible. Sometimes we can give a small dose of Benadryl or diphenhydramine (6- 12 mg) one time to see if the swelling decreases.
