Bugs in the rabbit shed

I just cleaned out the rabbit shed and realized that there were many bugs under the straw (ants,flies and other little black bugs) and I know that this can be a major problem for bunnies...I don't really want to buy a bug repellant because even though it says "rabbit safe" I still don't trust it. Does anyone have homemade remedies or tips to keep out the pests? Also, are essential oils safe for rabbits? I have "Young Living" essential oils which I know are completely safe for humans and are food grade but is this the same for rabbits?

Are your rabbits in wire cages with wire floors or are they housed in hutches that have solid floors with bedding?

Your rabbits would probably be a lot healthier with wire floors because the waste drops on through and there is no environment for bugs etc. The only thing I can suggest for your current situation is more frequent cleaning.
