Building a farm .. Updated 8/24 Complete/ *PICS*

That is beautiful(the house and the setting).

We built our dream home about 4 years ago and I thought I would lose my ever lovin' mind dealing with subs, weather, etc...it was all worth it in the end.

It is so exciting to watch the progress from day to day.

What part of Texas are you building in?

this is soooooooooo sooooo much fun watching... It seems (from this end..lol) that things are moving so fast.. How does it seem to you?? When do you think you'll be able to take up residence? Is the next parts slower? faster? Dang! i just love watching this.. so beautiful.. Do your kids love it as much as you? I sure did love and thrive on living like that in my teen years!! Well, wishing you all well. cant wait for tomorrows news

We are in far Northwest Montgomery County (barely) .. which is north of Houston .. at the edge of the piney woods.

When the weather permits .. the rate of building has been phenomenal! We've ordered windows .. and I think they put the roof on .. then the windows/exterior doors .. then the siding ..

Then comes stuff like plumbing/electric etc. That stage will probably seem slow because there won't be exciting VISIBLE process ...

You're right, the plumbing and electrical stuff seems to take ages. Then comes sheetrock and painting, which is exciting at first, cause it makes it look more like a house. Once you get past that, it picks up again when actual light fixtures, flooring, etc. starts going in. Our house was started on the first of August, and we may be in by Thanksgiving, although I'm telling myself that is optimistic. This week, the tiling was finished and they may start laying hardwood today.

Hope yours goes as quickly and that you have as good a builder and crew as we have had. We still go sit on that porch almost daily and pinch ourselves to make sure iit isn't a dream!

Right?? I had this out-of-body experience the other day, after they had all the rooms framed. I've memorized the floor plans. I've looked at them for over a year.

So I'm walking around the house the other day .. in and out of each room, every closet, bathrooms, etc .. and suddenly I was this itty bitty 1/2 inch tall person walking around on the piece of paper that was my house plans...

Does that make sense??

I was like: "Wow, this IS those plans I've been looking at for a year ... coming to LIFE ... in 3-D .."

It was bizarre .. and exciting!

Don't worry, any forward progress is exciting!

Once the plumbing is in, that's when the REALLY fun part starts(unless you already did this)-picking out fixtures, colors, flooring, etc.

You are going to be so excited to spend that first night in your new house!

Man they are moving right along withthe building and all.

In the last pics you posted, with all the insulation up, it looks like the Tin Mans house

The builder is still saying mid-january .. but DH is spending TONIGHT out in the house ... not I .. I will stay home where it's warm and there are actual bathrooms..
