I just finished building a new incubator out of an old dorm fridge for incubating quail eggs. It is heating up right now.

I had to build a couple of boxes to hold the eggs so we could turn them easier (it was about 1" too small to take an automatic egg turner). Here is one of the boxes that I built (incubator holds 2 boxes):

Each box holds about 130 eggs. Looking forward to trying out the new incubator.

Here are some pictures of the incubator. It is using a 25-watt heating element and a wafer thermostat. On my old incubator, I used a hot water heater thermostat, but I would spend a few more $ and get a wafer, so much better and easier to use.

Here are some pictures:
The fridge:

The fan and heating element in the freezing compartment:

A box on the outside. The fan plugs in here and if I ever find an automatic turner, it could plug in here. The switch turns it on and off so I don't have to keep unplugging it.

And the insides with the thermostat down between where the eggs will go.

Now to get it stabilized.

No it's not cedar, it's cheap pine that has been sitting around outside for years. The cut edges do look like cedar in these pictures.

paddock36, yes I do just tilt the boxes. I cut a egg carton and use it to prop it up. Then just change the tilt 2-3 times a day.
