My son is going to Haiti this weekend and his job is building chicken coops. We are looking for simple designs that he might consider with limited supplies. Thanks in advance for all suggestions and help. He is very experienced with building for me but he has no idea what materials he will have but would like to go with several ideas.

Are there parts of Haiti that get cold? If not, I would go with 3-sided structures with a large roof overhang. The roost could go across the back. It sounds like his biggest issues will be building the runs, the actual coop structure doesn't have to be much of a coop at all.
If you do a search for hot weather coops, I'm sure you could get some pictures.
Good luck!

Hi!
How did it go with your son's chicken coup building in Haiti? We are working in Haiti and are just beginning to plan a backyard chicken farming training in a village there. Are you able to share details and lessons learned? What coups did he end up building? How did they hold up through the hurricanes?
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!!!
Cynthia
