I'm not good with tools, so level roosts sounds waaay easier to build than tiered roosts. Lol. Can I put them 12" apart? Or is that too close? I have a side of my shed that i would like to put 3 roosts accross but that section is 8' wide but only 3' deep. Suggestions?

I've used roosts 12" apart horizontally for full-sized fowl that were successful. 12" is probably the minimum though, I would not put them any closer.

I'll include this photo to show how I attached my roosts. It's pretty simple, drill a hole through the roost and support and drop in a big nail. If you want a 2x4 on edge you can get a bracket at Lowe's or Home depot to support it.

Level roosts are easier to build, but more importantly, easier to clean under. The boards should be 12” apart from each other and 12” away from any walls. 3-8’ long boards should accommodate 24 chickens.
