Yep, I'm definitely going to use a straight edge of some sort to help with bending. I'm thinking of clamping a straight board at the edge of my work table, to sandwich the HC between the table and the board, so the edge of the table is flush with the edge of the board, and then hammer the HC that's sticking out, down to bend it over the table edge. To make it easier than holding down the board.
