in a small town in maine... the stipulation is that the coop has to be placed at 25' from the property line. i have a disability and see no other place on my property to place my coop that is easily accessible, provides shade during the summer, and some protection from some predators. i literally have trees for land. the code enforcer is going to deny then i have to appeal and go up to the board which they say will take 4-6 weeks. they send out invites to my neighbors so when or if they come to the meeting-they will all know that i have physical and mental disabilities. which is embarrassing enough! i don't think a lot of people know that there is not only chicken ordinances, but also building ordinances and restrictions even for a 4x4x4 chicken coop. i don't know what to do or what to say to hopefully make a better, solid case since i am going to have to divulge my personal information to the public. but i feel i don't have another choice (unless i don't have chickens). any advice?
