Building Our New Coop

I am working on getting the coop ready for winter. I am dusting down the walls again and adding 3 more bags of sand. I need to dig the hillside away from the north outside wall so the rain doesn't wash in.

The first of this month we lowered our roost for several reasons. #1, the hens kept jumping down, hitting the water pan and spilling water. #2 The smaller Red Leghorns were having a hard time jumping up.
Now the bigger leghorns dont have ant trouble jumping up and down its just my coop is small and it helps keep hens from bumping into stuff.

That was a fun read. It looks like wood chips are the way to go in the run for my PNW Chicks.

Yes! We have a wood chipper but haven't got to use it yet. I would love to layer the run with chips, it is very muddy right now.
