I saw AndreaGS's beautiful hutch and decided that something similar would work very well for us here.

Here's what I've got so far. I put this all together in about 3.5 hours last night, with the exception of the roofing.

Don't mind the overhanging wood on the roof. I'm going to trim those three back to the wood panel. The roofing is probably a little sloppy... I've never done roofing before. That stuff is HEAVY.

I added four rails to each level for the poop trays to slide in and out on. I need to frame in some doors for what will be the wire cage areas on the right, and box in the cubes on the left hand side for shelter. I originally thought that perhaps I made these too big, but then I realized were in Michigan and Andrea is in California. I'm betting our guys might need a little extra indoor space, so I'm leaving them as-is.

The exact dimensions of each quail cage on this double decker are 2' 3" deep, 4' 3" wide and 15" tall.

I love building things, but I'm betting the shipping cost for units like this would be really really expensive. Especially with the roofing.

actually I was sorta kidding, but if you are west michigan I doubt you are any farther than a couple hours away

Boyd, well when I've got some free time this summer maybe I'll stick an ad up for custom made hutches. Keep an eye on the For Sale section.

sandspoultry, I've not done (or even looked at for that matter) turkey houses before. Doesn't mean I couldn't put one together though!

Cass... Cass...Cass

You look tired and need a vacation, pack your hammer, nails and spend some time at the beach. Well or close to it.

you can visit when you are done building. You can take back all the quail you can carry.
