building paradise for the birds

i did just open the bator and the smell isnt that strong as yesterday....and that is exactly what i was thinking...i do have my coolerbator....i think that might be the option i go with just to be safe....i just dont wanna thro them out not only bc of the money i spent on them but they could be some that make it....im going to fire up the coolerbator in a bit and then see how the smell is in the other bator ....and if its still pretty bad then i will switch them....dont need any eggs to explode and contaminate any other eggs...well got everyone fed....and the brooder ready for the CEMANI/HONAS....still keeping my fingers crossed but i have a good feeling about today....it sounds promising thru the emails so...i will let everyone know how this day goes...as this is a big one for me......im going to be moving some of the younger birds back to the garage cause we are supposed to have like 30 degrees all week....so back in they go...so much work....but cant wait for them to be big enough for production it is all worth it in the end...keep my head up and look at the bigger goal and realize with birds they are many setbacks....and you cant just let one slow you down or bum you out.....as many things can happen....deaths in birds, breaking their necks as they fly in the wall or something, male killing a bird,....as long as im hatching and pushing out numbers nothing negative should bother me...but it does...i dont know why...somethings just set me off...and birds are one of them....looks like its going to rain....

well just got some emails from gff...saying the cemani/honas are getting shipped out today...im trying to do overnight...so we shall see what happens....this really brings a smile to the frowns that i have had yesterday...im so eggcited...the brooder is all set up with fresh chips and everything...just waiting for the birds now...i cant wait...i think im going to make another order....for after summer...to add to the flock...yepper..i have only one more importer to contact and then i will have every imported bird line out there with these...that i want there is one that i dont want...so things are looking better.....hopefully ...as you cannot count your chickens before their hatched....and or delivered alive...taking a deep breath hoping everything goes as planned.....and they make it.....im kindof nervous with these kinds of high dollar shipments always make me cringe....

Oooeee!!! I am excited for you!!

Good luck! I hope everything goes well!

Keeping em crossed for you bro. I'm sure its always really tense that last few hours before a shipment is suppose to arrive. I'm waiting on a broody duck and this last week is going to take forever.
All sounds promising tho so best of luck. And dont sweat moving the pens. Think of if like art, because every artist knows a painting is never truly done you just convince yourself to stop long enough for someone else to agree its finished. Lol.

Mine shipped out Tuesday...overnight...arrived 6:30 am Thursday. All five shipments! The last two replacement shipments arrived in great shape! Hona's are beautiful and in that shipment they sent packing peanuts...little Legbar roo's.

I am sure yours will be great!!! I did notice they changed to monetary refund 72 hour guarantee...who wants $$$ when we want chickens!!!

Good luck! Can't wait to see the pics!

im sure with all the losses from dead birds that is the reason y they changed to the money back....i would just think that they would do the research to where they are sending before sending something like that out...i know of about ten people that had doa shipments from them...i would love to really say whats on my mind...but sounds like they may be getting better on their communication now with josette...their....their new manager...i guess...jen is still there...as well...if they show up alive i will be happy with the shipment...we have spoke several times and from what it sounds like...they have quite the demand...and not enough supply at certain times...and if you order two or three different breeds then it would be hard to get them all at once if one is not laying...then you take a chance sending a small amount....i had 29 show quality barred rocks sent from someone and they all showed up perfectly alive...the svart honas from bryce are getting so big already...its crazy...they are truly something to just stare at...so now i will be getting 8 cemani and 4 svarts....that is what is in the box...so to speak....so pretty happy...had to change the order a little bit...but im fine with that...

I'm glad you're documenting all your bird related life. Since I probably won't ever be able to afford any Hönas, I'll get to live vicariously through you thanks to this thread! :)

It sounds like a number of big hatcheries have been having shipping issues, mostly with the USPS, though, from what I've been reading here. It's been making me kinda nervous about the shipment of chicks I'm expecting at the end of May.
