building paradise for the birds

I'm sitting here, catching up on your thread, and thinking. I'm just barely getting into chickens. But. When I throw myself into something, I usually go all out, and end up spending a ton of money to get exactly what I want.

I have never heard of GFF. But I do know, that from reading this thread, I will never buy from them. They have no idea the free advertisement and good press they could be getting right now. Almost 140 pages of people following your journey. We were all so disappointed and sad for you when your first shipment died. Excited with you as you waited on the second shipment. And now? A bunch of second rate chicks. No response, slow to do anything. Don't seem to care at all.

Can you image how good they would have looked if you called them, and said Hey, I think there's been a mistake, and they sent you a new shipment immediately, all the while apologizing for their oversight? It would have shown all of us that we can trust this company to do right by their customers. We all make mistakes, we're all human. But their lack of response to a customer spending thousands has my head spinning.

I sincerely hope this all gets straightened out, and you get the quality chicks you paid for. You, my friend, are far more calm and patient than I will ever be. I might have exploded by now.

LOL....if you knew me....im no were near calm or peaceful when it comes to lines, waiting, birds and really anything in my life...i made countless numbers of calls and messages to them...and well here is the inside scoop on their operation....the person responsible for the customer service does the stuff from wednesday thru the week...on monday they hatch and vaccinate...on tuesdays they ship...i was patient for this whole time..but think about the people that spent the 5k for two juvenile birds...and then a year later they were offering for way less....and then a year later...just chicks for 500 bucks each...and then a couple months after that 199 a chick...so i just thought of those people to remain calm...i know people that have spent well over 10k with them...and some of them have had the same issues with their timely feedback of customer service...they told mom this morning after she was trying to get me to call.....that would have not been a good idea cause i wouldnt have been to friendly about the call at this point....but they told her that the customer service rep also has to be out on the farm helping out as well...like i told mom...if they are backordered with these birds and are making so much money then y dont they hire a young person at minimum wage that can simply be for orders, emails, and customer service...but what do i know...anyways they are reviewing the pics and want us to be on the same page when they ship again on tuesday...but since i told them i dont want them to be different ages cause then i will have to be building yet more brooders for the birds cause i dont want them to get picked on...then she said she could just refund the money for the other birds that werent up to par so to speak...which the whole reason y i bought from them in the first place was to get birds..not to just be like well ok im done dealing with you...we have other orders to fill....you know what i mean...its really frustrating...right after i got the email i responded right on my phone and didnt get an email back...yet.....so maybe tomorrow...now i understand your busy but when i email back and then nothing..and then they said they were going to send out tuesday because they have alot of cemani...and then dont...and then i have to get other people to call just to get a response...then they send me an email...when other people are calling about my order...seems like when you put pressure on them then they respond...anyways im trying to stay on the bright side...but what am i supposed to do with the not quality breeding stock...free range them...its not like i need anymore chickens...im at 150 chickens right now...and mid may ill be over 200 chickens...we have 23 peacocks, and will have over a hundred ornamental pheasants mid may as well...and like i need another brooder...we have five in the house and two in the garage....and mid may i will have five more brooders...wow..never realized how many birds i really do have until now...anyways..be back with some graphic pics of the pheasant that just died...we are taking her apart....

Quote: If I find it again I'll cut and paste it here.....I think it was on a facebook poultry breed group, I follow a dozen of them, so hard to keep track.
It was not long diatribe against GFF, but a quick mention of obviously non-SOP traits in a certain breed during a amidst a genetics discussion.

do you have a post on where i can see this...i would be interested to see what people have to say

yea...congrats to all the .05ERS.....

awww....thanks man...means alot...with all the viewers and people i have inspired it means alot when you get messages like these...keeps ones head up and really makes you think of how many thousands of people you give the strength to start their own flocks and projects....we can learn alittle from a lot of people and cut the learning curve by a huge degree...there has been many people that have inspired me and kept me on a straight playing field so to speak and are very knowledgeable...
thanks TONY KY, casportpony, randy, candice, sumi, and im sure im missing alot but thanks again to all the people out there that share their stories and their knowledge...it helps more then just me.
ohhh.....you cheater...thats ok...i found this peacock carrier and i so should have bought it just for the plans itself to make my own....

really cool design..you can see a peacock on the right....the tail sticks out and remains in tact...

well i think we should start a thread called the inspiration of the .05ERS....WHERE WE CAN SHARE OUR STORIES AND KNOWLEDGE TO INSPIRE PEOPLE...

well got the inside scoop on how gff works...ill keep that to myself...however they are supposed to be sending me an email today on what they are going to do...however they did tell someone that they do cull for white toes...SO THEN WHY DID I GET THE BIRDS WITH THOSE TRAIGHTS....and they also said they have a 6-8 week waiting list for cemanis....weird huh....and i never spoke with them directly....but they know im concerned. i was like well if they are so busy and they are making all this money and have such a waiting list you think they would hire someone just for communication and customer service...but for some reason they dont...im sure they are super busy but to have someone doing the customer service/communication and then to work on the farm....seems alittle to much for one person...but i dont know their situation...but those are my opinions...im sure there is a reason for it...anyways..got an offer today to raise abunch of pheasants....not sure what ill do...but its a pretty nice offer....so i have to think about it....anyways have a great day...and keep up the great work peeps......
LOL the 0.05ers

Hoop coops are looking great. And the peafowl. Wow those tails are insane. Just got the OK for some hoop coops of our own. Kelso hatch is coming and I just don't feel right with the idea of keeping any prospective males on a leash Tied to a lean to. Just have this awful Jurassic park image in my head.
What happened to the goat?

if you wanna save time with the hoop coops i can give you a detailed drawings and how long the boards have to be and what angles to cut them at....it will save you tons of time....funny thing you say about a goat...i guess i might be trading some crested polish for a goat...goat on a leash...that will be one funny site...

i will work on the drawings...as i would like to have one for myself...cause right now i just wrote everything on as i build...and then i go back and just look at each board...i might try and add another panel onto the hoop to make it longer then 12.5 ft....but well see how it all comes out when i catch up
