building paradise for the birds

Alright Birdman, the ringneck are showing a little wear on the tips of there tail feathers, I'm thinking it's part due to the chosen nesting location being tight in a corner under cover, and breeding season. I have cut pine bows laid over 2x2 about 16 inches off the floor for cover, this covers an area about 6 feet by 30 inches. Are they being tough on there tails in the cover?

Every other aspect of the birds them selves looks sharp and happy, only the very tips of the tails are showing anything.

Any ideas?

i would guess its the nesting area being to small they could be trying to lay at the same time piling in their all at once..trying to get away from the male...the male will go after the back and head area to grab ahold of her...just my thought...im no genius....but i am birdman.....LOL

well....im going to take it that im not getting anything from gff...they never responded, called no answer...figured they were ignoring my number so i had mom call with a different number and no answer....i have both of their lines....and no dice....so i emailed them again...earlier asking if they came up with a solution and if i was going to get the order shipped out...they said they would send replacements for the bad ones this week...tuesday..which is today....and i never got anything back from them or an email saying shipment was sent....so im going to take it that i was stood up on this one...i had two birds with crooked toes as well...so im really shocked at what has happened...and ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THEN WORDS...AND RIGHT NOW THAT IS ALL THAT IT IS ...IS JUST WORDS TO BE NICE...well atleast i got some rare birds...that is about all i can say about that...PREVENTATIVE MEASURES...people...grrrr....they say that white toes are normal and acceptable....im sure when they imported their birds im sure they were picky and didnt bring back birds with white in them....well gotta learn and this has been an unreal learning experience...

I was reading on a breed group discussion that GFF messes with crossing their imports then sells them as pure breeds....
....folks were being warned off using them for parent stock.

and my thread...i will take some pics of the boxes with the chickens...the pheasants however will lay anywhere...i have a cinnamon golden pheasant that is now laying on the roost that is four feet high...she broke yesterdays egg she laid...bummer...have to break that somehow...two days ago...i went into the pen and she layed it on the perch and i just held my hand out and caught it....im going to add more brush to the coop....i believe she is getting picked on by the others when she is trying to lay the egg

as for what i would do...i worm her right off the bat...to get rid of whatever she might be carrying..i would worm her orally....or put the liquid on a small piece of bread and give it that way to all the newcomers...as for the "weakening of your flock" i dont think that is true..when you give them vitamins/electrolytes i have read in the long run they will be alot healthier and stronger....i think the to medicate or not to medicate is just a personal preference....most people that are really strong against that ...they want their birds to be organic...and once you give them meds then they are no longer organic...hope they get better for you...keep us posted...if you would like and put some pics on here....maybe someone can see in the pic what is wrong and help out better....just a thought...
