Maybe add more fans. I dont know about the lights that are right next to the tray. In my experience they get to hot and the eggs closest to them cook.yeah the coolerbator will be done before the weekend and it will be running for three days after that point to make sure it is holding it temp...and as for the side view of the large unit...here is a rough draft...im not sure if im going to put the lights on the side by the single fans or not...on the bottom is an area where I can put the chicks after they are banded for which tray they came from..each tray will have a color on it from which pen it came from so I know when they are in the brooder together I can easily tell them apart then...the tray system im not sure if im going to hand turn this years batch or try and put a mover for the eggs...if I put a mover in it ...it will be a manual one that I will not have to open the door for
any ideas...anyone...on any modifications you can see you would do
well its raining here...and im not feeling well but im going to do my best today...so off I goMaybe add more fans. I dont know about the lights that are right next to the tray. In my experience they get to hot and the eggs closest to them cook.
Just thought we could look at these side by side......
...is it drawn close to scale, one space = approx. 2"...fans 4" sq?
I'm trying to get this straight in my head. My plans are to put one together this spring or sooner. I have the box and how I plan on insulating it figured out. 2 things I'm not understanding, almost all DIY incubators use lights instead of the heating elements that you see in store bought incubators???? I also cant seem to find the automatic tray turners in the cabinet. two of my biggest hang ups right now. I would think that one light on continuously to light up incubator and 2- heating elements 1-in top and 1-bottom connected to one or two wafers would work. Now that is my simple mind thinking it through with what I have seen on smaller scales. My experience is with small incubators and I have never made one so I'm a dummy on this subject but I am going to make one any way...lol
well I thought about the pvc...I just cant do it...it makes more sense to do one out of wood....and make it taller so the chicks from the different pens cant get to each other and then I can band them once they dry off and then move them to brooders, plus with the wood I can secure the hardware cloth to and then connect the turners and manually move them up and down by just one lever....I will be basing my brooder set up like tonys...homemade and very efficient...when the time is right I will get all commercial stuff so I can clean it better but for now...homemade stuff is where I go...I thought about pvc egg trays all connected to one big handle on the outside of the brooder so twice a day you just have to turn those.
I personally think the temp swings would be a lot less by using the bulbs because they get hot really fast when compared to the heating wafer...it heats slower then the bulb which in return will give you more of a swing if you open the box...that's y you see on the commercial cabinet incubators...everything is auto so the door does not have to be opened....just my thought...
and as for the egg turner I have a simple idea....so when the part gets here I will try it and take pics and post...as for y you cant buy such a set up for auto turn eggs...is because then the incubator places wouldn't be able to sell you there product so they are not going to sell this for the public...however if you do some simple things you can make one yourself....rotisserie , auger motor, or a automatic car antenna will all do the same thing...however you have to build by trial and error the frames and mechanisms for these units so they can work like a commercial cabinet incubator....
hope this helps....
ive spent numerous hours of research on this and have a rough idea on how each one works....but until you get your hands dirty and build it then you have to turn your eggs by hand...my system is going to be really easy to install and a no brainer...I just hope it works...basically heres the jist it rotates on a pole horizontally and as it spins the rope winds up bringing the eggs up and then when it unravels the eggs go down...key to this set up is top and bottom switches to tell the machine to stop...and if your not a electrical smart person..this will be hard for you to understand cause theres quite a few wires and switches and relays...
anyways figured I would share with everyone that I just got 22 EGGS today...
if I cant figure this auto egg system I will do something similar to the up/down method....using a rope or metal piece..that Is connected to the racks....then I wont have to open the doors
hope this helps
