building paradise for the birds

it is actually way easier then you think...i dont spend that much time on them now that they are all beatles...i need to buy another set of mealworms....thats for sure....how are you growing them....what are the temps...whats your feed and water source....these are some of the basics...and once you get these down...they will do there own thing...everyone has their own success and everyone does it slightly different...i can let you know what i do and what works for me....it prolly is pretty close to the same as what your doing....just small differences...so i shall wait for your response and go from there...

I just have a small handful of mealworms in a aquarium like container. They sit on oatmeal as the bedding, and I put in fruits. My temps are probably 70F. No water, as I was told its in their food. I just followed a article on BYC.

well the package is in denver colorado....im not sure but i think thats backwards to michigan from nebraska....lol....ill keep everyone updated.....the main 20x20 tarp broke last night so off to get individual 10x10s and then posting in the center so it drains off...have most of the coops sanded now...and i did see some water start to pool up in the second coop i put sand in...makes me wonder if the sand im using is too fine...anyone that use sand for coops like to comment....i was told they get it 100 ft down and they screen it so nothing would be larger then a 1/8"....i think for the second round im going to use something bigger...with more drainage...there are some stones in there but its mostly small sand...its right from the distributor so i know its quality stuff....no middle men....well off to moving more sand...i have to wear gloves today as yesterday i wore quite the holes in my hands...not feeling overly ambitious today but got to get it done....and the chickens are laying like crazy...

Buying a Flow Hive? I been checking them out for months and months now. Just don't have money to toss unto that yet. Need to make sure I can keep em alive in winter. So many bee keepers lost most their hives In Michigan.

I used to keep button quail in the finche aviary.... House keeping duties. and Yes they are funny.... but they need a tall cage or they will bash their brains out on the ceiling every time they get startled.

That is exactly how I kept mine. Summers spent outside in my finch aviary. Kept them, finches and Diamind doves together.
