building paradise for the birds

I think the band between the legs needs to be tighter...so the legs are closer together?

they were alot closer if you look the right side is not attached i just took that side off and set it down to see if it would be able to walk yet and no good....i did take it off completely and yesterday it just got the strength and started running around....so wondering if he was just to heavy for his feet he was a larger bird out of the shell....anyways....the fly tieing eggs have hatched 12 so far....not really sure y i have some all white birds...makes me wonder....also the pheasants are doing there thing....the yellow golden and red goldens....one pen of each are mating so we should be getting some eggs soon...here are some pics from this morning after the hatch dump...wow thats a lot of birds....and there is still more hatching....also one came out that is still in the hatcher with stuff still attached any ideas on how to help it and fix it...im going to check out the 101 hatching to see i know they had some pics on there with the same symptoms
all bundled up

scattered out...wow

just moved over two more this morning....one was sticky...not sure what that would be from....also should be close to 40 now...and two didnt make it out of the shell...they couldnt break it and pop out...but there is still eggs left and when i moved the chicks i tapped on the eggs and could hear chirping sounds out of a couple.....oh no...another quazi....well see...have a wonderful day...just got word that no cemani/honas for atleast two more weeks...as they dont want another incident like this to happen...so i shall keep you posted on whats happening...quail are going into lockdown on saturaday...brooder is already made...and should be going to wood store here in a bit to get more wood..and then back to building...got some work done on the hoop coop..one section of hardware cloth up...just not sure how to secure it...around the metal parts...any iders....the hog rings they sell by me are to big for that...hummmm
Not sure what size of hardware cloth you are using or if you are meaning to the posts or hardware cloth to hardware cloth. (I totally know you know what you are doing. I have been lurking off and on and trying to catch up on the reading. Long thread with lots of great information by the way.)

We used cage clips to join 1/2 inch hardware cloth to 1/2 inch hardware cloth. Nice fit for it.
For joining to the posts I used plumbers strap. Adjustable and wont rot off. I used machine screws, washers and nylock nuts to make sure it would stay.

I am amazed at what you have accomplished with your birds and in your life.

Best wishes,

Babs

thanks...been trying to keep up with everything...its been super hard....alot of bumps on the way...but getting it done....also you mentioned cage clips i believe this is what i am looking for is there somewhere online i can buy them....for right now im just going to use zip ties till i can get the metal clips...i was meaning the hardware cloth to the horse fencing...i shall go take some pics...and post them

it would be the edges like this to connect to the cattle panel....(its actually horse panel)

The cage clips may not work well since the horse fence is at an angle but not expensive so may be worth a try.

This is just one of many places that sell them online.

I do not like to use bailing wire since it rusts but with the angles there may be something similar that would work and not rust.

This stuff is aluminum so would not rust and it comes in many gauges too.
I like the looks of your hoop coop. You do such wonderful things for your birds.

IN my Opinion.... Aluminum ties are crap.... sorry. I bought some to fasten my fence for the goats. If you tighten them too much they fatigue and while they dont break right away they eventually do snap...
