building paradise for the birds

Just got caught up with the thread been a minute since I've had the chance to read anything. Spare time seems a bit of a myth these days. I can't believe you just processed that many chickens. Seems you're getting everything sorted out. Unexpected moves are never pleasant I only wish I was around to help with the birds. Seems you have had your hands full but I sense plenty of help lurking behind the photos and text. Did those peafowl eggs hatch on my bday or did it end up being later?
Anyways keep your chin up and don't let the man keep you down. You know your grandpa would want you to stay positive in these trying times. Looking forward to next fall when we will both have quite a bit more free time I'm sure and possible visits both directions.
Onwards and upwards brother.

bummer part is i set over thirty peafowl eggs and none of them hatched....that too is also another reason y i dont want peafowl....to big, eat to much, take up to much room...and hard to hatch...so ill stick to my pheasants, and the chickens i want that are useful...much cheaper that way as well...and the hatch rates are great same thing with the quail....the best thing a person can get into with birds...

well got home with a tablet....and it takes ok pics...however if there is any movement the pics are blurry...and with birds to not move....well thats funny....anyways here are some pics...sorry for the few birds...even tho there prolly is still close to 300-500 birds that i still have....and im hatching jumbo quail as we speak....anyways here are some pics
PEACH GOLDENS WHICH WILL BE SOLD NEXT YEAR 250/PAIR
he doesnt have all the coloring in yet but before winter he will...so please with this stock

the only remaining birds left...and that made the cut....hahaha..mom is so not happy that there is no more eggs....but wow the work has cut down by like 80 percent now..
FIBRO BIRDS WILL (HMONG) CHICKENS WILL BE SOLD 2016 NOT SURE ON PRICING
SHOW QUALITY BARRED ROCKS WILL BE SOLD 2016 NOT SURE ON PRICING

HMONG ROOSTER...MY GUESS CLOSE TO 8-10 MONTHS OLD...VERY UNIQUE

now lets see if the experienced people in fibro birds can tell the difference.....
svart hona rooster in back and two hmong chicken hens in the front

yellow golden coming into color....one thing i have noticed with this breed is that the younger they are the more colorful they are once they get five years or over their color starts to fade after they molt

peacocks that are up for sale

peacocks that are up for sale

so i went out to check out the pens and momma has been sitting on these eggs for a while now...and she got up to move...i was taking a pic of her sitting...and then low and behold there were two youngsters under her...so cute

young hmong rooster and two hmong hens

two hmong hens

so i will add some more pics tomorrow...as it is getting dark...soon the backyard will be filled with black chickens...just like i said....like in as tomorrow...it will be very cool to see this...never thought i would free range 3k worth of birds...lol....
and a special thanks to the chicken catchers when i couldnt catch the chickens they worked great and listened very well...i never thought a pit bull would make a retriever....however you can make any dog into whatever you want and these dogs have truly impressed me with their capabilities...
ryah my female has a large number of tumors and they are getting worse...not sure how long she will be around...and thats one reason you dont see to much of her...poor girl...but she is healthy and they dont seem to bother her health or fitness...so im keeping my fingers crossed with her...she is so smart

not sure yet with the dogs as some places wont allow pit bulls

I will keep my fingers crossed for you....

Many tears were shed over that. Dog has since passed and I still miss him.

So sorry you had to process all those birds. Geez! The ones you kept are gorgeous. Change is never easy.

Been super busy so haven't been keeping up with byc at all. I'm sorry for whatever happened for you to have to move! You have worked so hard on your runs and your birds. Hope all works out for you!
