Building your own incubator

Ok so i've searched high and low, and I think I am ready to try and build my own incubator.

My question is, when I install a fan, what size does it need to be? Is there any information anywhere that states the cubic feet of the incubator to the inch size of the fan?

Most look for scrap PC's. It doesn't mater how old, some of the ATX cases has 2 fans, one in hte front and another where the power supply is. So if you see an old computer that has been thrown out, grab it and pull it apart and you will have your fan. Try and get a couple and you will have a spare, if it still has the power supply with it you will also have a 12 volt adapter required.

I LOVE mine! Check the Custom Portraits & my other pages link at the bottom of my sig and click on the Homemade Bator link at the top

I just built mine out of a spare kitchen cabinet and have 25 eggs in it now. It's holding temps and humidity great, temps haven't fluctuated more than .3 degrees.

I have 2, one is a large upright freezer that has 3 shelfs that hold 60 eggs each and I have rigged a turner
so that I don't have to open the door, the other is a apartment size frig. that I use as a hatcher. but I think I am going to replace with a larger frig..They were very easy to build and I had so much fun..Everyone should try it once.

I ofund a large heavy wooden box, made of 3/4" plywood. I made a top for it out of OSB board and gutted a stryo bator; then put the guts from the styro in the box after painting the interior with some exterior semi-gloss latex paint. I did add a light bulb to add extra heat.
Voila! A Super Bator!!

It has room for a turner and then some. I use a brick in a plastic water tray as both a thermal buffer and moisture diffuser. I salvaged an old computer fan and 12vdc wall wart power supply.
Real simple, real good, and real cheap. 'Got 3 dozen eggs in it, right now.

I don't remember where I originally bought it, but it was an online herp supply. I used to have a snake and the thermostat was a leftover.

It is a Helix DBS-1000 if you want to google it. It is proportional and will control up to 500 watt heat supply.
