Built A new coop out of my old fence

Hey, TexasSam, have you considered entering your coop in the coop contest on this site? I would vote for it as the winner. It's great looking and is affordable as well as planet friendly. Who could ask for more. Much nicer than many of the "taj ma coops" we see so often. also like the idea of putting old signs on the outside as decorations. Wish I had something to send you, but Katrina took the few I had, along with most everything else. Maybe someone else has something to contribute. Reminds me of country road gas stations as a kid. Or BBQ sheds with the greatest BBQ. Good luck, if you decide to enter.

I like the rustic look good work. It looks very sturdy but still could be moved with not too much extra effort. Especially like the wise investment in hardware cloth. It would need a few extra touches to survive my Canadian climate. From this view I am thinking interior cleaning may pose a problem which could easily be remedied by a hinged panel on the side or back. The fact that it is elevated will discourage vermin and most predators. The extra height will also make scooping the litter into a wheel barrow much easier. I think you know what you are doing and it is not your first "Rodeo".
It has a lot of endearing features.

Hoping it serves you well BYC buddy.
I put A access panel to the left of the door and I took all the 2x4 from the old fence and studded it every 8 inches to make it stronger. This is my secondary coop for moms and chicks also if I need a quarantine. My main coop is much bigger excuse the mess I've been working over there for the last two days

I was remembering the old BBQ/bait shop that was down the road when I was A kid

:yesss::yesss:
I put A access panel
I kind of figured you probably took cleaning into consideration as a lot of thought went into it's overall design. The panel just never jumped out at me in the photo. I actually expected it was on either the back or side that is "NOT" visible.

I was trying to hide it:)

Looks great. Does anyone know what height I should make a fence for me to keep chickens safely as I have quite a few dogs that are just waiting for one of them to escape . Currently I have about 20 chickens in 2 coops. Bit tight in the one coop . Both coops have runs . But I feel it's to small and would like to give them more space.

I don't know, but I do know that they will jump onto something inside in order to be able to jump over a fence..... If you've got your chicken house within jumping distance of the fence and they can jump up there, they'll do it. I moved my big girls into a covered run, I found the "roof-less" yard too stressful trying to keep them in there (and also the crows and pigeons thought that they were entitled to come for food)

Wow, I love this! Love the rustic look of it and it's definitely a nice sized coop!
