I wanted my girls to have more room so I had my handy DH build what I call a "porch" so they will be able to scratch in the dirt and feel like they are more outside. It's small but I think this will do the trick. I'm going to add a mix of good dirt in there.
In our backyard, we had originally remodel the garden shed 12 ft L X 4 ft W as a coop/run. It has a concrete floor with 2" pine shavings and I've wanted to give the chickens a chance to scratch in the dirt like chickens love to do.
