Hoping to find some help here.
I’m a fairly new chicken owner and still learning. I love my little flock dearly and just noticed tonight that one of my chicken has something wrong with her eye. It’s bulging and she’s squinting a lot.
She seems to be doing fine otherwise. She’s eating and not displaying any other issues.
Any idea what it might be and how I can help her?

Welcome to BYC

Looks like she may have suffered injury to the eye. Can you tell if it's intact?

General care for the eye would be to gently clean with saline, then apply an eye ointment in the eye. Terramycin eye ointment can be found at TSC.
Thank you for responding. I thought it might be due to an injury. I think it’s intact but have to take a closer look in the morning. I noticed it shortly before they were ready to retire for the night and the bulging is honestly throwing me off a little. Is it possible to bulge like this because of injury?

Oh my. I'm so sorry. She is precious. Wyorp Rock is amazing and knows much more than I, so please keep that in mind. I remember reading about using honey in, yes in, the eye for injuries. If you don't have anything that Wyorp Rock is suggesting to put in her eye tonight, you may want to look into using honey and specifically what kind exactly, until you can get what she's suggested. I would make sure on the specifics before using it though. It sounds promising, but I admit that I haven't researched it enough yet. I wish you the best and hope your bird has a full recovery 💜

It could. It's hard to see if that's a scab on the eye or if the eye is punctured/deflated.
Trauma can cause swelling or if the eye is lost, that can also cause swelling.
I will definitely take a closer look in the morning with some daylight.
At first glance it did look like there might be a scab and the eye itself looked intact. She did squint when I took the picture.
Hoping that I can see better in the morning.

So, I’m treating her eye with Terramycin and she’s been letting me handle her very well. The eye is not much better but also not worse.
I did notice that there is a laceration above her eye that looks aggravated. Is there anything I can do for that to help the healing process? Not sure if Neosporin would be ok.
Any input would be appreciated.

Good Morning!
I posted somewhat of an update in the thread with a question. I’m new to the forum and still trying to figure things out.
Also posted pics of this morning and was wondering if you know about my question.
Sorry, just trying my best to deal with this situation to get her better.
