one of my girls has a red pecked away vent. working theory is it’s been pecked away because i know she laid a soft shelled egg a week ago. just making sure it’s not something else

It's feather pecking/plucking by one or more flock mates. Keep an eye on things as sometimes it can lead to cannibalism. Happens most frequently during the winter when birds are confined. Most likely perpetrator is bird in the flock that is in perfect feather. This bad habit can sometimes be corrected through the use of Pin Less Peepers.

update: chose to separate her until her fathers heal and she can recover. she’s my biggest girl and i have to integrate a new flock soon so my hope is with the shifting of the pecking order she will adjust and not become a target
