He should be fine - and it's not necessarily the whole toe, just that digit that has turned black. I was trying to see if we have an article on it, but can't find anything super quick - chickens have this ability to 'self-amputate' their toes, one joint at a time, as their injuries require, and go on living nice, full lives. He may hurt for a little bit, though, and maybe limp, until the process is complete.

Thank you ! He doses hold it up when he is standing. But he is a trouper!There's no way to know for sure, just by looking at the photo, but it could take a few weeks. You just have to keep an eye on it, and hopefully, it won't slow him down any.
