Bumble foot?????

thank-you chickngal98 and twocrowsranch for all the helpful chats. We have a hen with bf and it was bad. We did surgery and it went fairly well. Now we just need to keep up with the healing process. Thanks for your time in sharing with us.

You are quite welcome....Hopper, my hen, is doing much better...I feel good about the decisions I made to operate. Without doing surgery, I am sure she would not have made it....

we are good buddies now!

my poor Wyandotte has bumble foot, took her to the vets who gave me Doxycycline to give her, said it doesnt need draining???????? She is doing great, no signs of systemic infection but limps so bad , I feel so sorry for her. Tried the epsom salt thing & it doesnt seem to do anything.

I have just aspirated my Wyandottes bumblefoot. lots of puss came out but it bled like crazy, soaked her foor in peroxide, put triple antibiotic ointment on it & put her in a quiet plece to recover. She is still on antibiotics. So far she is doing well, hope it continues like that, fingers crossed.

This is my purchase from Tractor supply, they were labelled Wyandottes !!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought 6 chicks, they turned out to be one Frizzle cochin, & 5 assorted bantums, one of which looks like a large sparrow, cannot find its breed anywhere. The Frizzle is only 3 months old but is trying to mate everything in sight, hens, roosters & even my ducks. Its crazy.
