Bumble foot?????

Unfortunately - we can't do this right away. I want to be able to watch her and doctor her foot. my mom is having a major surgery on wed and if all goes well we ill be helping my baby on friday. Hubby said he believes he can do it. I read that a lot of this is caused from them walking in wet areas. since i'm in arizona, the summers are brutal. we set up a misting system and fan for them - so i'm feeling very guilty. i turn on the system every afternoon and there are days it gets really muddy. It's storming super bad here today so all the girls are in my kitchen. i will be checking their feet today.

i truly appreciate all the help - i will let you know how it goes. just say a prayer for me

Actually, the main reason .. at least for mine, had been jumping down on a hard surface. I finally put a piece of carpet on the coop floor where they jump down. Or, they can get a sore from stepping on something, or, they can actually get something stuck in the foot. In any case, it causes infection once they get a sore started. :/

Hi Folks! This thread has been very helpful. I'm afraid we may have found an early case of bumble foot. It's been terribly wet where we live and we moved our chicken tractor out of standing water over a week ago but with all the rain we are getting our entire yard is damp daily. When I checked my chicks last night I found Delilah with a hard lump on one toe with a black scab. After everything I've read I'm really worried this is an early sign of bumble foot. What do you all think and can soaking it help?

I'm happy to report that with repeated soaking in Epsom salt, spraying with veterycin, treating with iodine and wrapping with antibiotic ointment, what ever was on Delilah's toes has totally healed up.
