One of our very heavy chickens had what was a very bad case of Bumblefoot. We have been away so it was only noticed by our neighbor on Saturday. By the time we got back, researched (thanks to these forums) and made the decision to do the surgery ourselves it was today.
We feel it went well. We followed the terrific post with pictures to a 'T' and managed (I hope) to get out all the stuff including the kernel from one foot. When we looked at her other foot she seemed to have a much newer one and we tried out hand at that. Didn't get as far as it was painful for her. There was also a LOT more blood with the less-infected foot.
Follow up questions:
1) how long should it be before we see the majority of the swelling go down? Obviously it came down a bit because we drained it, but it is still fairly swollen.
2) how lomg should we wait to check the dressing/bandages on her feet?
