Me too! We all need a Kathy around to check our bird poops, do our IV feedings, bumble cuttings & necropsies.

Hey, I'd be scared spitless too, 'cause I haven't done one yet. Done a couple "eye bumbles" (sinus surgery), and one "breast bumble" (breast blister), but they seem like easier places to slice.

How did Hailey's foot get to a 4--5 in such a short time??

Now I feel awful for not catching it sooner...

Oh dear @BantyChooks That's quite a bit of swelling there.
The Clear Iodine may help soften it to pull out the plug, but if that's all full of pus it will have to come out somehow.

I am amazed the poor thing could walk at all.

So what I am seeing is soak, apply iodine, then soak the next day and try to scrape out pus before applying the iodine again. Unfortunately, this case with Hailey looks nothing like all the other bumbles I've seen on ducks. There doesn't appear to be any plug to pull out, only swelling and the site of entry.

No way to find out what's going on except to do it, I guess? I will pick up clear iodine when I go into town next.

Hello..That actually started as Bumble foot. Now it actually looks as though the bone is involved and a antibiotic is needed. In sever cases it can be life threatening. A vet is needed.
