I am fairly certain that at least one of my roosters has bumblefoot. I caught him and examined his foot and the part that is swollen is hard in places but soft in others. It also looks like it is partially filled with some sort of liquid, puss and blood mix. Now this morning I look and there seems to be a small raised bump on one of my other roosters feet. The first one I noticed is rather large in my opinion, aprox the size of a nickle, the other one, just barely a pea size. I am totally new to chickens and have never seen this before. From what I read it can be caused by totally even perches. The perches they have are giant limbs from trees we cut down on our property, so they may appear to be even to our eyes, but I don't think it really qualifies as "artificial" like in a bird cage.

Are there any suggestions out there? Helpful hints?

Thank you
Rachel

Oh, dear. I feel for you. I've treated many birds for bumblefoot. The cause is any abrasion on the foot, followed by staff bacteria getting into the wound. My first bunch of cases started with nonskid tape which was removed immediately upon finding the cause. The treatment continued for months. One of my girls has had it most of her life. I could go on and on-currently, I have several recurrences, I believe due to glass in old burn piles on my property, thorns, whatever. The summer weather made the staff multiply. Anyway, here are some links for you.
