BUMBLEFOOT??? need help fast! Vet opinion???

Quote:
You can probably get duramycin or Terramycin at TSC. Not sure of the exact dose, but those 2 and baytril have been used to treat bumblefoot. However many people have just removed the plug/pus and packed it with neosporin (no pain relief) and covered with vet wrap and it has healed.

Edited to add: where it is on your roo, he wont be putting pressure on the bandage so a good waterproof bandaid might work.

OK, so no scab is forming and it doesn't seem to be getting bigger. I am soaking it every night for about 20 min. and then putting triple antibiotic ointment on it.... If i were to try to break the cyst/growth/bubble open what would i use? pin? and should i use something to numb it before doing so? I don't know how sensitive chicken feet are.

You should lance it with a very sharp new utility knife or razor blade. You need a pretty good sized open area to get it cleaned out really well. Put bumble foot in the search field. There are MANY posts on this already.

I agree. Get that opened and cleaned out before it gets any worse. Do the search on bumble foot. There are so many helpful threads on the BYC for it. And know that you are never alone in this. We are all here for support!!!

Good luck!

Aw thank you all so much. its hard when your only 15 and have 12 chickens of your own to feed and water and care for. What makes it especially difficult is when something like this comes up and everyone says "well, its just a chicken."
Yea, to them its just a chicken, but to me he's my Alvin.

Thanks Soo Much to all of you!
