Bumblefoot on Coturnix..Update! Need help ASAP

That's what I was trying to mention with the paper towels...towels would work too

I reread my post and it sounded like to put the bird in a cage with the paper towel like a hankie..

I've had a rat with bumblefoot and it's normally caused by a cut or infection that is exaggerated by pressure on that area of the foot due to obesity or in this case, probably being on wire. The wire doesn't cause it, but it makes it worse, especially if the wire isn't really really clean. I cleansed and sprayed Blu Kote on Fabian's feet and it would get much smaller and disappear but often times it would reappear not too long after. He had to live on cloth bedding for the rest of his life to help keep the flareups at bay and to keep the cage super clean. Might have a better prognosis in birds. I've never heard of bumblefoot being caused by deficiencies though.

Ok I just went and did that. The other foot on the coturnix doesn't have a scab or a scratch on it anywhere. Her pad on one of her toes is a little bigger but nothing is hard in it. She's had that since she got pecked awhile back.

I don't have the food bag anymore

I am hoping to switch back to Kents and get rid of this nasty powdered food.

I thought I'd ask here, rather than make another thread.

Should the surgery be preformed even if the birds feet don't seem to affect it at all??

I was just outside looking at my birds, I picked up two of my 3 hens and one has bumble foot. It doesn't seem to bother her, and the top of her foot isn't swollen but the "pad" part in the middle of her feet are swollen and scabbed.

I don't know how long it takes to develop but it has been raining for two days straight so their cage is soaking wet, which I'm sure doesn't help.

NO NEED FOR PANIC YET.... JUST BE PATIENT. COTURNIX HAVE MAJICAL HEALING POWERS--- GIVE IT TIME. DIFFICULT WE CAN DO IMMEDIATELY, IMPOSSIBLE TAKES A LIL LONGER

K You give me hope

This is the same girl that got pecked a few weeks ago. BTW her name is Lucky so hopefully she can pull through this. In 2 more days I'm going to change their bumblefoot bandages but I'm of afraid that Lucky will just hurt herself even more. Should I just leave the bandage on her for a little while longer? The tibetan hen Choco is doing fine and is asking like herself as usual.

Like JJ said, coturnix can heal quite fast. I would soak her feet at least once a day in salt water and change her bandage when you do that. It will help take out any infection there is. Don't think about culling right now, patience is key. Lucky is bound to get better, we all have hope for her
