Bumblefoot or possibly gout?

Hi Everyone!

I have a Sebastopol gander named Ivan that is 3 or 4 years old. I just got him three weeks ago, and he seems to have adjusted well to his new home. He's been very healthy, with good droppings, etc. Two days ago, he started limping slightly. At that time, I checked out the bottoms of his feet, and they seemed perfectly fine. This morning, I noticed a strange swelling on the top side of his right foot:

I felt the lump, and it feels hard on the inside, and seems to be right up against the bone.
He is still limping slightly, and it seems to be more pronounced if he tries to run.
He has been getting a mixture of layer pellets and whole wheat berries, as well as grazing.

I'd love anyone's thoughts on whether this could possibly be bumblefoot -- even though there's no black scab as far as I can tell. Or if it could possibly be gout -- maybe because of the extra calcium in the layer pellets? I had never heard of a bird getting gout until this evening when I was reading on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Everyone!

Is the foot hot?
Why is he running? I try to make sure my goose walks very slowly because I had a duck once with bumblefoot and it was not a happy ending.
Honestly I would take him to a vet just to know if that is what you are dealing with.
In the beginning stages it is easy to treat...later not so much.
I'm no expert on bumblefoot...so it could be something else too.

Thanks very much, hayley3. I didn't notice any heat when I was checking out his foot yesterday. Hopefully I can check on it again today and just make absolutely sure there's nothing going on with the bottom of his foot. I've never dealt with bumble foot before, so I really don't have any experience with what it's like.
He just runs a bit sometimes, mostly from excitement, I think. He and my female do it when they follow me around the yard, or if I call them back when they wander off. It's possible he could have stepped on something the other day, I'm not really sure.
I'm sorry about your duck.
