1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
She is an Isa Brown who is approximately 15 months old. She does not feel lighter or thinner than the other two chickens.

2) What is the behavior, exactly.
She has issues with her feet. While the other two chickens tend to keep their feet cleaner, she does not. On June 29th, 2024, I noticed she was standing in the chicken run on one foot, while the other leg and foot was curled up against her body. As she would move around the chicken run, she would take a few steps, and then repeat the process on the same foot.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?

Since June 29, 2024.

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?

The other two birds are not.

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.

I ended up using a garden hose and cleaning the dirt off her feet, as I use a coarse medium grade sand with small rocks in the chicken run, and it can coat their feet at times. Upon looking at her foot pad, I noticed two small rocks appeared to have embedded into her foot. When I rubbed and lightly manipulated the rocks, they fell off her foot and what looked like two small wounds replaced them.

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.

Two small stones from the medium coarse grade sand caused a small wound.

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.

This is normal.

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.

This is normal.

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?

I went out to tractor supply and purchased a spray bottle of “Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Poultry Care Spray”. I sprayed this on the suspected area. I also use neosporin (brand name) and I use blu-kote every few days, as I have heard it acts like a barrier.

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?

I do not have access to a vet in my area. I am going to have to rely on home treatment.

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
The first picture is on June 29th, 2024. The second and third pictures are from tonight, July 10, 2024.

A part of me believes the black portion is that color because of the blu-kote I have been applying. It has not really grown in size, and her footpad is still the same size.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use

They have a coop with roost bars that are low to the ground. I use medium coarse sand in the chicken run, and there are small rocks in it.

Looks like minor bumblefoot. Soak the foot, pick off the scab and press all the pus or whatever is under the scab out. Clean well, apply a dot of triple antibiotic ointment, wrap the foot and let her go. Check daily.

Also where did you find that template for sick chickens?I love it,it looks so helpful!
It's a sticky thread that's on the first page of the ER Forums. Very first "POST".

@Wyorp Rock Thanks for the Thorough instructions. Just to confirm, you don't think the area might appear as a scab because of the blu-kote? When I was touching the area, it did not have much of a texture as a scab.

And when you say to soak it, do you mean in unscented epsom salts? Or would you just use warm water?
