First case of bumble - wondering if others apply epsom salt poultice? It is a drawing agent used equine mainly. Thanks for any insight.

I think most people pack it with an antibiotic ointment or cream before wrapping it. Epsom salt can be used as part of the initial soak to soften the foot/infection.

Thank you. Wondered if this poultice gel would magically draw out the core for me. :) I will work on the ointment as well. Will also work on my wrapping, found it in the pasture!

I don't think it would magically draw out the core. You would have to make sure it was wrapped enough to not get eaten by the bird. Pictures of the actual bumble in question would be helpful for giving advice. I have however used sugardine, also often used in horses, and have had very good results with that. You still need to manually remove any pus that may be in there. If it's a small shallow lesion there may not be any visible pus and topical treatment might be enough. See post #8 here for more on sugardine: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/bumblefoot-not-healing.1443809/

Greetings & Salutations. Welcome.

I just read the thread that @coach723 linked to above. I have been reading about various conditions of poultry, so I am somewhat ready when it/they occur.

Do a Search for Bumblefoot and you will find more information. In the meantime, work on the infection.

This is a wonderful site on which to Learn and enjoy. We are pleased to have you in the community.
