We have been treating our 1+ year old EE who began limping a week ago with daily soaking in Epsom salts, spraying with Vetericyn and wrapping with a poultice of activated charcoal and honey. She has a very tiny black scab that is not growing, but we’ve been unable to alleviate the swelling on the bottom of the foot. Now her foot is quite hot. We haven’t isolated her and I suspect she’s been roosting, so we will separate her in a kennel starting today. I’m very concerned about the heat in the foot and am going to get Penicillin today also. I’m struggling with how to cut into the foot since she has such a tiny plug. It does have some hardness under it. Any suggestions on what to do to cause the least amount of pain/damage?? Should I wait to start cutting until the Penicillin has a chance to work? I’ll post a picture this evening when I unwrap her foot.
