Hey y'all! 👋 I'm not quote sure where to put this... i have 2 ladies currently being treated for bumblefoot. We performed their surgery,, keeping it clean, Vetericyn, clean wraps, quarantined...as well as giving them baytril.

I know when birds are on antibiotics their eggs aren't for human consumption. They are still consistently laying. Can I cook the eggs and give them to my dogs?? It seems like such a waste. What can I do with them??

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I would feed them to the dogs.

It's likely you have already made your choice what you plan on doing with the eggs, but for future considerations understand that the bacteria inside the dog's system could subsequently build a partial resistance to Enrofloxacin if being fed to it in small amounts. That applies to the chickens as well. It's generally best to throw the eggs out for the recommended withdrawal time.

Thanks for this info. I have one bird being treated now.

Another related question: How long is the withdrawal period? I'm seeing some info that the eggs from treated birds will never be ok for consumption ever again, and some folks whose vets said 2 week withdrawal. Any insight? I've been searching for answers for hours. Literally.

TIA
