Bumblefoot with no scab?

What strength should I order? I see 100 mg, 250 mg, 500 mg online. Is there a chart somewhere that shows how much I should give based on weight?

I'm not sure what I should take from that. There is no plug or scab present although if I discount that and evaluate all other factors, if this is, indeed, bumblefoot, it would probably be a 4 or more likely a 5.

I will weigh him before dosing but I'm guessing he's around 8 pounds so 456 mg. How precise does it need to be? If I were to give 500 mg, would that be problematic if he does actually weigh 8 pounds? If he weighs less?

Yes you can go ahead and give him a 500 mg dose if he is an 8 pound bird. Split it up into doses equally spaced a part. So 250 in the morning, 250 in the evening.

Not 500 twice a day? That's what my vet told me to do...

you are SO right Kathy...it's 2 times a day!! UGH..it's hot over here...my brain is frying...

I think one can give up to ~68 mg per pound twice a day, but the more commonly prescribed one seems to be ~57 mg per pound twice a day.

A few mg's in either direction won't hurt anything. Of course not enough antibiotics can cause bacterial resistance and too much antibiotics is very hard on the birds system. But a few mg's here or there on either side will still do the job without issues.

I think anything between 100 to 150 mg/kg twice a day will be fine.

I have been incredibly busy and this is the only picture I have been able to take so far. I have been giving him the antibiotics since Friday evening and although I see him stand once in awhile it's very difficult for him and I haven't noticed any other changes. He still has a very good appetite and even though we have put him in the cage away from all the other chickens, he
is still looking out for them and doing everything he normally does as far as alerting them to treats or danger.
